Activteam designed and built a 150 m² custom exhibition stand for the Balearic Islands at Hanseboot, the boat show in Hamburg, Germany. The project aimed to introduce visitors to the islands as a destination by translating their Mediterranean character, coastal scenery and distinctive atmosphere into an immersive exhibition environment.
The design drew inspiration from the sea and sky surrounding the islands. A blue exhibition floor, sky-blue overhead structures and large panoramic images created a visual connection with the Mediterranean landscape, while separate display areas presented different aspects of the destination.
Interactive audiovisual elements strengthened the presentation. Plasma screens, touchscreens and virtual tours gave visitors additional ways to explore the islands, their landscapes and their appeal to boating enthusiasts.
The design drew inspiration from the deep blue waters surrounding the Balearic Islands. Activteam used a blue floor across the 150 m² exhibition space to evoke the Mediterranean Sea, while the white edges of the overhead structures suggested sea spray and sunlight reflecting on the water.
Within this unified blue setting, the stand featured distinct areas dedicated to presenting the islands as individual destinations. Large panoramic images, enhanced with backlighting, brought the coastal landscapes and bright Mediterranean atmosphere into the exhibition hall. Together, these elements created a visual presentation designed to capture visitors' attention and encourage them to discover more about the islands.
The 150 m² Balearic Islands exhibition stand designed and built by Activteam for Hanseboot Hamburg, combining Mediterranean-inspired colours, panoramic imagery and custom architectural features.
The stand was designed and fabricated with on-site assembly in mind, ensuring that its architectural features and finishes could be installed to the required quality standards at the exhibition venue. This attention to construction and workmanship was particularly relevant at Hanseboot, where many visitors had a strong interest in boating, equipment and quality craftsmanship.
Positioned near a main entrance and exit at the exhibition, the Balearic Islands stand was designed to attract attention from visitors approaching from different directions. Its striking blue floor, panoramic imagery and distinctive overhead structures communicated the destination's Mediterranean character even from a distance. The stand helped present the islands as an appealing destination for boating enthusiasts and other visitors.
This project reflects Activteam's approach to custom exhibition stand design and construction: combining visual impact, practical build requirements and clear communication of the client's message throughout the visitor experience.
Interactive technology played an important role in bringing the Balearic Islands experience into the exhibition hall. A wall of 16 plasma screens presented dynamic visual content, while two 52-inch touchscreens allowed visitors to explore information about the destination at their own pace.
The audiovisual presentation included simulated underwater excursions and virtual tours of the islands' varied landscapes and coastal scenery. A surrounding sound system playing soft music helped create an inviting atmosphere, complementing the panoramic images and Mediterranean-inspired design.
By combining destination imagery, interactive displays and carefully planned stand architecture, Activteam created an exhibition environment that encouraged visitors to engage with the Balearic Islands and discover more about their appeal as a boating and holiday destination.
The Balearic Islands stand combined custom construction and carefully selected design elements to communicate the destination's character. Once inside, visitors could explore the islands through panoramic imagery, interactive virtual tours and audiovisual presentations, creating an engaging experience inspired by the Mediterranean landscape.
To strengthen this connection, Activteam incorporated olive trees into the stand design. Deeply associated with Mediterranean culture and landscapes, the trees added a natural element to the exhibition environment and helped evoke the atmosphere of the islands. Finding suitable olive trees in Central Europe presented a practical challenge, but their inclusion was considered an important part of conveying the destination's identity.
The blue flooring, panoramic views, natural greenery and interactive displays worked together to create a calmer, more inviting environment within the busy exhibition hall. Rather than relying on graphics alone, the stand used its architecture, materials and atmosphere to communicate the appeal of the Balearic Islands to boating enthusiasts and other visitors.
According to the original project account, the stand attracted visitors throughout the exhibition, including Spanish government ministers who visited the presentation. The project demonstrated how custom exhibition stand design can bring a destination's identity to life while creating opportunities for visitor engagement.
